The Florida Snow Ball currently has waiting lists in all categories. However, we are still accepting registrations from those who feel they might get lucky.
This year we ll have two great bands, Stringrays and the Clayfoot Strutters, with two fantastic callers, Lisa Greenleaf and Seth Tepfer.
The Stringrays bring together Rodney Miller on fiddle, Max Newman on guitar, Stuart Kenney on bass and banjo, with the addition of, Sam Bartlett, on mandolin; and Mark Hellenberg, on percussion. They are known for their sometimes playful, sometimes sublime, often raucous and funky dance music.
The Clayfoot Strutters are a self-styled New England-based Contradance Jam Band which specializes in fusing the modes and melodies of traditional American immigrant music, the progressive pop and modal jazz harmonies, with hot dance-floor grooves from the Latin, Swing, Afro-pop and Zydeco/Cajun worlds. They are Pete Sutherland, on fiddle; Jeremiah McLane, on accordion and keyboard; Lee Blackwell, on guitar; Peter Davis, on clarinet and sax; Harry Aceto, on bass; and Mark Roberts on flute and banjo. This time they ll bring with them, the up and coming, Oliver Scanlon on fiddle.
Lisa Greenleaf, from the Boston area is known for her exuberant calling and effective teaching. Lisa has called for dances across the country and in Canada, Denmark and England. She calls zesty contras and has a knack for making them all seem easy.
Seth Tepfer, is a masterful caller from Georgia who brings his soul to every one of his dances. He teaches with great clarity and with an enthusiasm that is totally contagious.
Sound will be handled by Jamie Platt, "The Sound Guy".
